I know, the concept of a smokeless smoke cleanse seems rather counterintuitive, but hear me out. There are times, places, and spaces where lighting up your favourite herbs to do a smoke cleanse is not wanted or appropriate.
What if you just had a particularly stressful meeting at work and you just want to clear the air energetically? Or if you have a loved one or partner that does not tolerate smoke well? While it might be tempting to chase your boss out of your office with a giant burning mugwort bundle, it might not be the best career move for you. As you can see, there are times when a liquid and non-smoking version of a smoke cleanse would be desirable.

How to choose which herbs you wish to use for clearing and cleansing will be very specific to you, your personality, and your healing journey. If you are working with your intuition and intuitive knowing/abilities, this would be a great opportunity to tap into that and practice those skills. Trust that the plants that wish to work with you and are in resonance with your energy, will step forward.
Other options include researching the herbs that would have traditionally been used in your lineage and ancestral lines. While I love working intuitively, I also tap into the medicines my ancestors would have used and incorporate those into my healing and energetic products. As someone of Germanic and Scandinavian lineage, the herbs mugwort and juniper would be very appropriate for me. I encourage you to explore this aspect of who you are and see if you feel drawn to using any of them.
Finally, there is the option of good old internet research. There is an abundance of information at our fingertips and finding out the metaphysical properties of herbs is pretty darn easy.

Other amazing options for your clearing spray would be the addition of flower essences. Essences like St. John’s Wort, Yarrow, Holly and Crab Apple can be great allies for the botanicals I mentioned above.
Finally, adding gemstones might be appealing to you as well! Crystal quartz is excellent for general clearing, but if you feel the need to add a protective element, perhaps black onyx or obsidian is more in line with what you need. It should be noted that gemstones do leech, but because we will be using this spray topically (and not ingesting it), we can place the stones directly in the menstruum.

- Sweetgrass
- Lavender
- Rosemary
- Mugwort
- Juniper

How to Make Herbal Clearing Spray
- Choose an appropriate sized jar for your needs
- Gather your herbs of choice (see list above)
- If you are using fresh herbs, the goal is to fill the jar
- For dried herbs, you will fill approximately halfway
- If you are using gemstones or flower essences, they can be added at this point
- Fill your jar with witch hazel
- Allow your clearing spray to sit for at least 3-4 weeks
- After that time period, you can strain our your herbs and pour your liquid cleanse/clearing spray into a spray bottle of your choosing
